The Delixi CDM3-63 C32 1P is a compact and powerful 32A, C-curve, single-pole miniature circuit breaker. It provides effective overload and short-circuit protection for a single, high-power circuit while saving space. It is ideal for use as a branch circuit breaker in applications where the load is well-defined and space is limited within the distribution box.

I. Overall Product Positioning

This is a single-pole miniature circuit breaker from Delixi's classic CDM3 series. It does not provide leakage protection; its core function is to provide overload and short-circuit protection for the live (phase) line of a circuit. Its most notable feature is its high rated current of 32A.

II. Model Details

Each part of the model number CDM3-63 C32 1P identifies its key features:

1. Series: CDM3

This designation indicates that it belongs to Delixi's CDM3 series. This series is recognized in the market for its cost-effective, economical, and practical products, with stable quality, and is widely used in various power distribution projects.

2. Frame Rating: -63

This refers to the maximum current rating of the "frame" or "frame" to which the circuit breaker belongs, which is 63A. This C32 circuit breaker is manufactured for this 63A frame.

3. Tripping Curve and Rated Current: C32

C: Tripping Characteristic Curve. The C curve is the most common type, with an instantaneous tripping current range of 5 to 10 times the rated current (i.e., 32A * 5 - 10 = 160A - 320A). It is suitable for most common distribution loads, such as lighting and sockets, and can withstand the typical inrush current of power on and off.

32: Rated Operating Current. This is the most critical parameter of the circuit breaker, indicating that it can safely carry a current of 32A for a long period of time. If the current in the circuit exceeds 32A continuously, it will activate overload protection and trip with a time delay.

4. Number of Poles: 1P

1P stands for single-pole. It can control and protect only one live wire (L).

When it trips, only the live wire is disconnected, leaving the neutral wire connected.

Physically, it is very compact, typically occupying the width of one module (18mm) on the distribution rail.

III. Core Protection Functions

Overload Protection: When the current exceeds 32A for a prolonged period (for example, reaching 40A or more for a sustained period), the internal bimetallic strip will bend due to thermal effects, triggering a trip mechanism to protect downstream wiring and equipment from overheating damage.

Short-Circuit Protection: When a short-circuit fault occurs in the line, generating abnormally high current, the internal electromagnetic release will instantly activate, immediately shutting off the power supply.

IV. Typical Application Scenarios

With its large 32A capacity and compact single-pole design, the CDM3-63 C32 1P circuit breaker is commonly used in the following applications:

High-Power Lighting Circuits: For example, large-area, high-power lighting systems in commercial spaces and factory workshops.

Single High-Power Appliance Dedicated Circuit: Serves as branch circuit protection for high-power single-phase devices such as large air conditioners, electric heaters, and instant faucets. (Ensure the device's power rating matches 32A.)

Branch circuit protection in distribution boxes: In densely populated installations with heavy loads, using a 1P circuit breaker can save significant space.

V. Selection and Installation Considerations

Circuit Compatibility (Critical): When selecting this circuit breaker, ensure the wire diameter it protects can withstand 32A. According to Chinese standards, copper wire with a diameter of at least 4 mm² is generally required. If 2.5 mm² is used, the wire may overheat without the circuit breaker tripping, posing a significant fire hazard.

Safety Limitations: Because a 1P circuit breaker only disconnects the live wire, during maintenance, even though the circuit is disconnected, the neutral bus may still be energized, posing a safety risk. For applications requiring complete isolation, a 1P+N or 2P circuit breaker is recommended.

No Earth Leakage Protection: This model does not provide earth leakage protection. If the circuit it protects requires protection against electric shock, a main leakage current protector (RCD) must be installed on the upper level or a separate RCD must be configured for that circuit.

Difference from C16/C20, etc.: The C32 circuit breaker can handle much greater power than the C16 or C20. For example, at 220V, a C32 circuit breaker supports approximately 7000W of load, while a C16 only supports approximately 3500W.
