I. Overall Product Positioning

This is a single-pole miniature circuit breaker with a neutral conductor, part of Delixi's classic CDM3 series. It does not have leakage protection; its core function is to protect the live line from overload and short circuits, while also simultaneously switching the neutral conductor.

II. Model Details

The model CDM3-63 C16 1P+N can be broken down into the following components:

1. Series: CDM3

This indicates it belongs to Delixi's CDM3 series. This series, known for its cost-effectiveness and consistent quality, has become Delixi's best-selling basic product line, widely used in residential and office buildings.

2. Frame Rating: -63

This indicates that the maximum current rating of the "frame" or "frame" to which the circuit breaker belongs is 63A. Your circuit breaker is rated for 16A, but it belongs to this 63A frame family.

3. Tripping Curve and Rated Current: C16

C: This is the tripping characteristic curve. The C-type circuit breaker is the most common general-purpose type, with an instantaneous tripping current range of 5 to 10 times the rated current. It is suitable for general loads such as lighting and sockets, and can withstand small inrush currents (such as when starting lamps or plugging in or unplugging appliances), making it a standard choice for home renovations.

16: This is the rated operating current. The circuit breaker is designed to safely carry a current of 16A for extended periods. When the current in the circuit exceeds 16A continuously, it activates overload protection and trips with a time delay.

4. Number of Poles: 1P+N

1P+N stands for "single pole + neutral." This is its core feature:

It has a full protective pole (1P) to control and protect the live wire, providing overload and short-circuit protection.

It has a neutral (N) terminal that can connect and disconnect the neutral wire, but this neutral pole typically does not provide overload and short-circuit protection; it is simply a disconnector.

Advantages: Compared to 1P circuit breakers, which only disconnect the live wire, 1P+N circuit breakers simultaneously disconnect the live and neutral wires when closed or tripped, providing greater isolation and safety. Furthermore, their width is typically the same as a 1P circuit breaker, 18mm, which saves more space in the distribution box than a 2P circuit breaker (36mm).

III. Core Protection Functions

Overload Protection: When the current exceeds 16A for a prolonged period (for example, reaching 20-25A for a period of time), the circuit breaker will trip with a time delay to prevent overheating and fires caused by wires.

Short-Circuit Protection: When a short circuit occurs, a significant current is generated, causing the circuit breaker to instantly disconnect the circuit (in milliseconds).

Note: This model does not have a residual current protection function. If protection against electric shock is required, you must select the CDM3LE series or configure an additional residual current protection accessory.

IV. Typical Application Scenarios

This CDM3-63 C16 1P+N circuit breaker is the workhorse of household circuit distribution and is commonly used for:

Lighting circuits in ordinary rooms.

Common socket circuits in living rooms, bedrooms, and study rooms.

Dedicated circuits for low-power appliances (such as televisions and computers).

V. Differences from Similar Products

vs. 1P circuit breaker: 1P circuit breakers only disconnect the live wire, leaving the neutral wire connected. 1P+N circuit breakers, on the other hand, disconnect the neutral wire simultaneously, offering greater safety while maintaining the same footprint. In home renovations, 1P+N circuit breakers are gradually replacing 1P circuit breakers as the preferred choice.

vs. 2P circuit breakers: 2P circuit breakers offer full protection on both poles and a greater disconnect distance, providing the highest level of safety. However, they are twice as wide as 1P+N circuit breakers (36mm). 1P+N circuit breakers strike a good balance between safety and space.

vs. Circuit breaker with leakage protection: This model does not have the function of detecting leakage (30mA) and tripping.
