Megger MIT230 is a battery-operated insulation and continuity tester designed for electrical contractors and maintenance engineers. Housed in a robust ABS casing, it is recognized as one of the most compact instruments in its class, prioritizing portability without compromising on safety or measurement capability.

Insulation Testing Specifications

The MIT230 is a dual or triple-voltage instrument offering selectable test voltages of 250 V, 500 V, and 1000 V to suit various equipment classes. It measures insulation resistance up to 999 MΩ (1 GΩ). The tester generates a test current of 1 mA at the rated output voltage, ensuring compliance with international standards like EN61557. At 20°C, the accuracy is ±3% up to 10 MΩ, ±5% up to 100 MΩ, and ±30% up to 1000 MΩ.

Continuity and Resistance

For continuity testing, the instrument supplies a short-circuit test current of 200 mA (minimum) up to 10 Ω, making it suitable for testing bonding and earth connections. The continuity measurement range extends from 0.01 Ω to 100 Ω with a resolution of 0.01 Ω. It features a lead resistance null function (up to 9.99 Ω) to ensure accuracy. An audible buzzer provides a quick go/no-go indication, typically sounding at resistances below 2 Ω to 5 Ω.

Display and User Interface

The MIT230 features a unique Analog/Digital (DART) display. It combines the precise numeric readout of an LCD with the dynamic response of an analog pointer, allowing users to observe charging/discharging characteristics of capacitive circuits that flickering digits might miss.

Safety and Voltage Protection

Safety is a primary feature of the MIT230. It includes a built-in voltmeter that activates automatically if a circuit voltage exceeds 25 V. If the tester detects a live voltage greater than 50 V, it automatically inhibits insulation and continuity testing to protect the user and the instrument. It is rated CAT III 600 V for phase-to-earth measurements.
