The 1719-A22 is an Ex I/O Base Chassis designed and manufactured by Allen-Bradley to be used in distributed I/O systems. It has 22 slots for input and output modules in distributed I/O solutions. Automation engineers use distributed I/O because they are simple, open, and flexible when it comes to extending or changing installation positions. They are ready to meet the users’ needs in every stage of their application development and growth, through its entire product life cycle. The 1719-A22 is part of the Ex I/O platform which manages field signals through I/O modules, backplane power, and communication capabilities, all the way to the remote PLCs. The information is forwarded to the PLC via an Ethernet/IP network by using the 1719-AENTR adapter installed in the base chassis. The adapter translates the protocol used on the chassis backplane to the protocol of the Ethernet/IP network.

The Allen-Bradley 22-port 1719-A22 base chassis supports standard I/O modules, safety modules, and power supplies. To avoid a possible overload of the power supply installed in the chassis during the startup phase, the number of the 1719-IF4HB I/O modules that can be installed in this base chassis is limited to 4 modules. Also, the users are advised not to use more than eight 4-channel I/O modules per chassis. The 1719-A22 is an easy system to install, and it has advanced diagnostic capabilities to save the users money and time by simplifying maintenance and diagnostic tasks. The dimensions of the chassis are 605 millimeters x 165 millimeters x 113 millimeters.
