The latest third-generation Intel® Core™ i technology is the heart of the powerful industrial PC. Core™ i3, Core™ i5 and Core™ i7 CPUs with up to four cores, in conjunction with the equally new QM77 Express chipset, represent the maximum performance currently available for industrial computers. As with the previous models of the Automation PC, the user has the option of freely combining CPU performance and base devices of different sizes. For example, a quad-core CPU can be integrated in a single-slot housing or a single-core Celeron in a five-slot housing. This offers the user extremely high degrees of freedom and cost advantages.

The rest of the PC infrastructure is also trimmed for maximum computing power and optimal data throughput. In the Automation PC 910, a CFast card based on Serial ATA takes over the role of the previous CompactFlash. The B&R industrial PC combines compact data storage devices based on CFast with standard PC drives such as solid state drives and hard disks in the tried and tested manner. The additional interfaces leave nothing to be desired: two Gigabit Ethernet ports, a serial port and other modular serial interfaces such as RS485 or CAN, together with USB 3.0 interfaces, round off the comprehensive features of the Automation PC 910.
