Overview

UNITROL 5000 is the most powerful product in ABB Switzerland's UNITROL series of excitation systems. The microprocessor-based voltage regulator uses the latest technology available. Its development is based on more than 40 years of experience in semiconductor voltage regulators and 15 years of experience in the application of microprocessor technology.

Suitable for medium and large synchronous motors, when used in static excitation systems (SES), it can be used for 50Hz, 60Hz or 16 2/3Hz power supplies, and the field current range is from 1000ADC to more than 10,000ADC; when used in automatic voltage regulation systems (AVR) for exciters with special functions, the power supply frequency is 16 2/3Hz to 400Hz.

Control functions: voltage regulator with adjustable PID controller (automatic mode), excitation current regulator with adjustable PI controller (manual mode), with reactive power sensing (differential or compensation), underexcitation and overexcitation limiter, automatic mode manual mode and automatic tracking between channel 1 and channel 2, and additional controllers for controlling generator power factor or transmission line power factor or reactive power, power factor or mvar power system stabilizer (IEEE2A, APSS, multi-band), manual limit function (optional).
