The two-channel A6500-UM Universal Measurement Card is a component of the AMS 6500 ATG system. The card is an universal card for measuring of dynamic values, static values, and speed.
The A6500-UM Universal Measurement Card is designed as standard Euro board (100 mm
x 160 mm) with an anodized front plate of 6 HP (approximately 30 mm) and is equipped
with a 48-pole connector (IEC 60603-2, F 48 M). The card is designed for use in the A6500-xR System Racks.
Data Acquisition and Processing: Receives raw signals from tank-top sensors (such as radar level gauges, temperature sensors, pressure transmitters, and water level interface sensors).
Calculation and Conversion: Converts the measured level height into accurate volume and mass (weight) based on the tank's capacity table (strapping table). Also calculates average temperature, net standard volume, and other key inventory data.
Communication and Integration:
Local Display: Connects to a Local Control Unit (e.g., A6500-LCU) display, providing an on-site Human Machine Interface (HMI).
Remote Monitoring: Uploads processed data to the central control room (SCADA/DCS systems), inventory management software, or cloud platforms via various industrial protocols (such as Modbus RTU/TCP, EtherNet/IP, OPC UA/DA).
HART Communication: Supports the HART protocol for configuring and diagnosing field HART smart instruments.
Control and Alarm: Triggers relay outputs based on set alarm limits (e.g., high/low level alarms, leak detection alarms) to control pumps, valves, or activate audible/visual alarms, ensuring safe storage and transfer operations.
System Management: Manages the configuration, diagnostics, and firmware updates for the entire ATG network.
Control Unit (A6500-UM): The card you mentioned, which is the core component.
Power Supply Module: Provides power to the entire system.
Communication Modules: Provide additional communication interfaces (e.g., Ethernet, fiber optic).
I/O Modules: Used to connect additional sensors or control points.
Local Display Unit (A6500-LCU): Optional, used for on-site viewing and operation.
Tank-top Sensors: Such as Rosemount 5900S radar level gauges, TankMaster series sensors, etc.
The control unit typically connects to multiple tank sensors throughout the tank farm via an RS-485 bus in a multi-drop fashion.
