The Safe Digital Output Module SDO-0824 features eight 24 V DC, 550 mA output channels that can drive loads up to 13 W. The SDO-0824 is designed for use with a wide range of loads.
These loads may be resistive (e.g., lamps) or inductive (e.g., solenoids). For inductive loads, each output contains a suppression diode. The outputs, including the suppressor diode, are fully tested and therefore can be used in safety applications.
The outputs are tested during configured diagnostic test intervals:
- Power failure capability
- Power-down group capability (by auxiliary means)
- Crosstalk between outputs
- Suppressor diode capability
The outputs are divided into two groups of four outputs each. Each group has its own auxiliary power-down method.
The auxiliary power-down method (SMOD) enables the watchdog and processor to power-down the outputs regardless of the outcome of the application function.
